As the thread approaches the Bump Limit I once again call on the baker to UPDATE THE STICKY
I have provided one that I took the time to write, you may simply use it
>>46044542Regardless I will present a better comparison between DeSmuMe and melonDS which I think proves beyond any reasonable doubt that the claim in the current sticky that Desmume is 'the best emulator out there at the moment' is NOT true anymore. That statement WAS true in 2017 when the sticky was written
HOWEVER
Times have changed.
>DeSmuMe vs melonDSHere I tested DeSmuMe on the left and melonDS on the right. You can clearly see the fps is printed to the blue bar at the top of the screen. I am running both emulators concurrently and unfortunately do not have a fast enought computer to render both at 60fps at the same time HOWEVER if you do then you may repeat the same test with the frame rate uncapped and you will find similar results that way
>FPSDeSmuME:
Idle: 30-52 avg: ~45
Walking1: 35-45 avg ~40
Walking2: 30-40 avg ~35
vs
melonDS:
Idle: 45 -50 avg: ~48
Walking: 30-50 avg ~40
Walking2: 45-50 avg ~45
>Texture glitchesThe video clearly shows the random black lines which plague emulation on DeSmuMe while you can see melonDS does NOT have this problem.
Note the 'blurry' ness of the video is a result of the compression to the webm format. These videos were recorded at 1200x800 resolution and if I uploaded the raw footage to youtube they would not be blurry
>Solutions?I propose that we AT LEAST recommend melonDS to newfags in the sticky if not remove DeSmuMe all together.
The fact is that development of DeSmuMe has ended (their last release was in 2105!) while melonDS will only continue to get better over time.
It's time to stop living in the past and embrace the improved emulators of the future
Oh yeah, PS
>melonDS supports local wifi connections so you can trade your pokemon between games :)
