Everything that's wrong with megas:
>They have the worst designs in the entire franchise (bar a few, such as Garchomp, Abomasnow, Houndoom, Charizard Y, maybe Pinsir are acceptable)
>they were given some of the worst distribution Gamefreak has ever thought up. Pretty much everyone agrees that too many pokemon that didn't need them were given to them.
>some of them were given retardedly powerful boosts like Mega Gengar getting Shadow Tag and Mega Kang getting a bigass unnecessary unexplained stat boost to go with the otherwise cool ability
>between the 2kool4u designs and the concept it really does cut a little too close to digimon (digimon isn't that bad but pokemon shouldn't go that route. They have fundamental differences)
Good things about megas:
>made pokemon like Mawile and Absol better. However this could have been done much better with actual evolutions.
>it adds a semi new mechanic only in that a pokemon can swap between abilities/typing.
All in all megas were a complete fuck up by Gamefreak. It was a good concept that does do its job in some cases, like Mega Pinsir. However they really did not execute it well and provides further evidence that there are some people at Gamefreak who are not working up to the standards of such a successful franchise.
Really, this isn't the fanbase's fault. For being one of the most profitable and successful video game series of all time, Gamefreak should have enough money to execute its ideas in ways that don't make its fans recoil in automatic disgust.
