>>55152539I've seen even Japanese note that the story feels unsatisfying and that Kieran was robbed of his achievements and never given any reward for his suffering. But maybe it's intentional, to show us that no matter how hard you try, you can still fail and have to start over, your efforts can go unrewarded. Kieran grew as a character though, he's now cool and collected like his champion self, yet learned to be kind to others and to himself. It's sad but it's not bad writing, it's just different from what people expected to happen.
