And powerful you became. The excitement I felt when you evolved into Ivysaur was only outmatched when I saw you transform into the mighty Venusaur. What a magnificent fighting beast you became. You were by my side as I defeated my very first gym leader. You stayed by my side while I defeated the Elite Four for the first time. Strengths and weaknesses didn't matter. Nobody could take down the mighty Venusaur. Today I discovered my old Pokémon game cartridge amongst a heap of old toys in my closet. I was eager to pop the game into my Game Boy Advance SP to see you again for the first time in years. But alas it was not meant to be. My heart sank and I threw my Game Boy into the ground, tears welling up in my eyes. I couldn't even believe it. My game file had been erased. Our adventures were gone. Years of memories, never to be relived. I'll miss my Dragonite, I'll miss my Raichu, but I'll miss the Venusaur that I grew up with the most of all. When anything bad or unsettling happened in my life, you were the only one who could consistently be there for me. Friends and family came and went, but for years all I had to do was turn on my Game Boy and you were there, waiting for our next adventure. Never judging, just there for me, ready to fight by my side. I grew from an energetic little kid into a responsible young man, but whenever I picked up that Game Boy and saw you, I was the same kid I was back in first grade. I didn't have a care in the world. As the years went by you were no longer my strongest Pokémon, as you were no match for my Gyarados or my Alakazam, but you were always the first Pokémon I turned to. You were like a brother to me.
