>>53604489I should add an addendum that there is an optional system in place for balancing newly-caught mons versus mons that have been with you for a while via the game's Loyalty mechanic. Mons that are new to you will just fight in the way they think they should be fighting, and it's not until you spend a lot of time with them that they become more receptive to your orders telling them exactly where to go and when. An Aipom might spend all of its time swinging around in nearby trees and passing by multiple opportunities to strike, while a Garchomp might just Leeroy Jenkins its way into trouble unless you can find a way to rein in its aggression.
It's not like the simulationist games, PTA aims for an "authentic" experience. If you have a party of six and want to play with them all to get their affection up, that's a minimum two hours out of your daily schedule, not even accounting for feeding time and travel time.
