I've called it Plastic and Rubber before, but both keep being misinterpreted and I'm not sure what else to call it.
Conceptually, it'd be a counterpart to Steel.
In the sense that instead of having superior defense by being incredibly sturdy, this type has no fixed/solid shape (it's amorphous) and simply deforms to absorbs physical hits without much harm (Fighting resistance)
And just like Steel (which is rarely about literal steel and more about the properties of tough metallic materials in general) the Rubber type is not about artificial or synthetic materials at all, but rather about properties like elasticity and nonporousness.
Their main battling strategies involve inhibiting movement by grabbing, enveloping or constricting their opponents, as well as using appendages like whips to lash/slam them.
Additional defensive traits are that they are less affected by particles (poisons, powders), poor conductors of electricity, water-repellent, while high temperatures weaken their elastic abilities overall (Fire), sharp objects can wound them (Steel) and excessive/sudden stretching can go beyond the point of easy recovery (Dark).
A generic cliche Rubber type Pkmn would probably be something along the lines of a pink blob (which is a trope of plenty of RPGs anyway)... with some tentacles?
Thoughts? Alternate name ideas?
