>>55414338>Would you like him as much if he lost 50% of his charmI mean, no. This is coming from someone who actually prefers the closed form (Peach form? Do they even have names?) to his open form.
What makes Pecharunt's design so good is precisely that he has two forms. The one we first become familiarised with, the Peach form, is little more than a featureless blob, save for those sick of your shit eyes. He's unlike anything else in Pokemon, which makes him give off this creepy, weird and sort of scary vibe that tells you this is definitely something you shouldn't trust. It's clear he's up to no good. This is peak character design btw. This is the form they chose to reveal him with and this was 100% intentional because when he opens up and shows his true face you find out he's really nothing more than a runt. He's small and awkward and of course really cute, with that worried expression, the bangs partially obscuring his eyes, and the tiny heart shaped hands, while at the same time the Momotaro inspiration is immediately recognisable with the headband and ponytail. This forms elicits emotions that are the complete opposite to his Peach form, it makes you want to protect him, hell you may even feel a bit stupid for being scared of him at first, and this works because the entire theme of Teal Mask is subversion.
The dichotomy between the two forms is nothing short of perfect and I love it. I am the target audience for this thing.
