The game did give me an appreciation for Hitmonchan and Arcanine though, so that once nice. Never used either of those lines on any playthrough before that one and I loved both of them. And Dusclops.
And Grimmsnarl was an unexpected favorite for how much I thought I'd hate its line..
Like, the best thing about that forced EXP share bullshit in newer games is that I've been using more and more pokemon rather than just settling on the first 6 that I liked and not budging off of them for the whole game out of sentimentality, and I at the very least have Shield to thank for that, since the "anywhere box" mechanic gave me an excuse to actually try it. Doing that certainly made my playthrough of Scarlet and my nuzlocke of BDiamond more interesting.
Also yes I know I'm a hypocrite for buying the DLC for it but it was the only way I could get my old playthrough bros out of paid subscription hell.
