I wanted to do a couch co-op nuzlocke with a friend but now that I know of the nuzlocke buster that is that 50 registered pokemon requirement. I'm trying to think of a way to preserve a nuzlocke attempt. I was thinking of mixing in a "complete pokedex" or "living dex" attempt into the nuzlocke to try and salvage the nuzlocke spirit but also allow me to actually beat the game.
Any suggestions? I was thinking standard nuzlocke rules but no in-battle items, death of a pokemon kills off the family(i.e Pidgey dies, so no Pidgeotto or Pidgeot even if I caught them separately in the wild) and even though I'd catch any new/uncaught pokemon I see in a given route, only the first pokemon from that route would be usable from that route.
Also if I do manage to get my friend to do a couch co-op run, another rule would be only one switch out per battle for each of us. doubt we'd ever be overwhelmed enough to need to switch often but its there just in case to prevent too much swapping out of bad match ups.
