But if he'd been that tired, why was he up and walking towards the door?
Pikachu stood fully upright, ears twitching; that's what he was, hopefully, going to find out.
Getting down on all fours, he leapt off the bed, deftly landing on the tile. He padded up to Ash's side, keeping pace (which, admittedly, wasn't hard, considering the human wasn't exactly breaking the speed limit at the moment.) The electric mouse looked up.
"Ash, what's up?" he asked. Ash wouldn't hear it like that, of course; he'd just hear "Pika, Pikachu!", as most humans usually did. Still, his meaning should be clear enough.
Regardless, Ash didn't even spare the little creature a second glance, instead continuing his stride.
Pikachu's ears twitched again, this time in worry; why wasn't Ash answering him?
"Ash?" the rodent tried again, this time tugging on his friend's pant leg. "C'mon, what's wrong?" He yelped in surprise as the leg inside of the fabric moved, and he had to let go to keep from being knocked over.
At this, Pikachu began feeling annoyed. What's wrong with him? he thought, gritting his teeth. It was one thing if he was oblivious to environmental hazards (a rock, for instance, that he'd tripped over earlier that day,) Team Rocket's disguises (how'd they keep falling for those things? They were pathetic! An eight-year-old human could probably come up with better ones!), or the glances Misty threw at him every now and then, at least when chatting with her over a screen.
Pikachu couldn't help but snicker at this; he was no great expert on human mating rituals, but he was pretty sure that Misty was…what was the word?... "checking Ash out."
