I bought the new Digimon game and was surprised at how well-made and balanced the gameplay was, all of the starters can be found in the wild very early on without any need for trading, none of the digimon cause headaches by needing to be traded to other people and back (and risk the "wait this kid stole my pokemon and won't give it back" problem I had in middle school), and then the exp and wild encounters are a dream, you get lots of exp per battle and you don't need to get lucky or have a status user like Bisharp or Parasect to catch your favorite monsters
Digimon is unironically a better franchise than Pokemon and the games show it, Pokemon is flailing all these new "features" which are just gimmicks to mask the bland and boring content within
