>>49015250i think the blame belongs more on gen 2 for being more of a rehash than an actual sequel. maybe pokemon fatigue would have taken longer to set in worldwide if johto had felt like a whole new region, not a glorified suburb of KANTOOOOOO.
gen 3 was screwed no matter what. it was too far away from peak pokemania to inspire mass consoomerism, but also close enough to pokemania that people were still too sick of the franchise to give it a fair chance.
