You can get a battle-ready team of any mon you want in a very short time nowadays.
I mean you can EV train piss easy, Max any IV you want with caps, change natures, change ability or make it have HA, get egg moves on any pokemon without having to actually breed a new one, etc.
Only the ability patch is a bitch to get, there's no excuse for anything else.
You can just catch a random pokemon in the wild and have it battle ready in less than an hour.
