>>53084241honestly, it doesn't even have to change much. just make doubles the default format ingame and make the trainers not entirely braindead. also have overworld encounters, but not how gf does it, how mother 3 does it. which is to say, allow the ability to sneak up on enemies from behind (or the opposite) letting you (or the foe) get a hit in first, and give a new ability to certain types of pokemon which lets them do certain things in battle. such things involve hitting the enemy first before the fight even starts, when you get snuck up from behind you have a chance to flip the enemies around instead, etc. also i won't say the game has to be spritebased because it doesn't but for the love of god, don't add so excessively to the overworld encounters to the point where you can barely even see which pokemon is which because there's so many. just utterly anti game design at that point.
