Creating a mechanic that reflected the evolution part of pokémon in a satisfying way gave me a wordy mechanic like Suspend that ate up most of the complexity points.
Even keeping the wordy version only at common (making most basics french vanilla creatures) you still have to check the counters on most of your creatures.
I should probably redo the set, cutting most of the useless mechanics and try to fit fewer pokémon in it, but the greatest obstacle with this kind of project is that a custom set should give you a limited/cube kind of experience but having most of your cards reference other make it hard to do.
Unless I'll go with WInchester's draft but that' a different animal.
