There's also the other obvious counterargument, in that Affleck wasn't attempting to pass off a potential fakemon as real, he was giving an info dump which given it got confirmed a couple weeks later (which is when people started taking it seriously) is a lot different to "I work for Nintendo and stole these to show you".
