Recently I tried playing HGSS without breeding a team beforehand, just catching wild guys, and what a fucking headache. I was almost 100 hours in by the time I beat teh Johto E4. Trying to catch a mon with a decent nature and THEN having to grind it up 20 levels? And guess what you have to grind with? THE FUCKING UNDERLEVELED WILD GUYS WHO GIVE YOU LIKE 200 EXP. It takes fucking a thousand years.
Fuck HGSS, it's shit. Just play Crystal. But Crystal has almost as many faults as HGSS but at least it's faster and it won't take you a solid 90 seconds to exit a wild encounter.
And honestly, all this is a real fucking shame. Even if you fixed the level curve and Pokemon distribution in HGSS, it would still be stuck in Gen IV, the slowest, most obnoxious garbage in the series.
Fucking imagine if HGSS was remade in Gen V. Pokemon distribution fixed. Level curve? Doesn't even really matter if you factor in how God-tier the Gen V EXP system is. Infinite TMs... It would truly be the greatest game in the series.
Unfortunately, it's on an even lower rung than its predecessor GSC. Not to mention Sinnoh will never have a proper remake. Great region, fatally flawed engine.
