That has been a constant source of disappointment for me too. I was even once hopeful that Mega Venusaur would be Grass/Dragon.
Literally all of the Grass starters are reptilian. My latest futile prayer is for Meganium to get a Mega that is Grass/Dragon, it is the only thing that can save it, but Masuda's hatred of the type knows no bounds...he will probably give it Dry Skin or something else evil.
