Even Yo-kai watch had one or two well written jokes and references every once in a while, while S/M's are flat out shit and it mostly relies on meme faces so you can get those EPIK SCREENKAPS XD and trademark awful pokemon slapstick to try to get some giggles. S/M is purely carried by waifu overload and is shit regardless. I hope SW/SH goes for something different to both XY and SM instead of failing to be something it's not.
