Though it's never been stated, Gossifleur and Eldegoss are probably supposed to be based on gossiping. They spread cotton, similar to the way a gossiper spreads rumors about people. There's also a Japanese stereotype of old ladies being gossipy which is what Eldegoss is.
Gossifleur while undoubtedly being from "gossamer" also sounds like "gossiper", and it learns Sing, Round and Hyper Voice by level up which is very very strange unless of course these sound/voice moves are supposed to be a reference to it speaking gossip.
