>>40487976I've also got a really stupid story that I love to retell:
In Black 2, I always did all the PWT tournaments as Doubles, and my team consisted of Lucario, Garchomp, N's Zoroark, and Vaporeon. Back then, I wasn't the best battler, so I'd just use stupidly elaborate opponent calculations (I didn't have internet to look stuff up, so I ended up writing everyone's team details down to refer back to later, then noticed and memorized the patterns of who'd usually beat who to predict my next opponent) to cheese my way to victory.
During the Champions tournament, I was struggling really hard to beat it, but one day I ended up with the tournament giving me Blue->Wallace->Steven.
I'd barely scraped by Blue, but I was super stoked because my team usually curbstomped Wallace and Steven, which meant that I'd finally be able to beat it.
...or so I thought.
For whatever reason, Wallace's team had run most of my 'mons into the ground, and it was just my Vaporeon left up against his Walrein and Milotic. I was scared shitless, but Vaporeon had set up Aqua Ring so at least it had some way to recover (its ability was fucking HYDRATION, what luck against the water-type champ amirite). But I did my best to stall my way out of that mess, and I spammed Acid Armor while Wallace's 'mons tried to chip away damage (Vaporeon's special defense is great!). Once I couldn't Acid Armor anymore, I hit them with a Muddy Water, and CRITTED THE WALREIN, KILLING IT, and then I got excited. Vaporeon had almost all its PP left, and I could totally stall the absolute hell out of the Milotic and win...
...except that the damn thing knew Rest.
The battle went on for a whopping 41 more turns, and eventually Milotic ran out of PP, while Vaporeon was cruising along thanks to Acid Armor's massive 40 PP. It Struggled itself into the red, and that's when I hit it with an Ice Beam and put the poor thing out of its misery, thus ending the battle. After that, I steamrolled Steven and got my hard-earned win.
