>>41467626the thing about megas is that most (discounting stuff like mega-fug and pre-s/m kanga) is that they were more balanced and aside from the few shillmons because of course, most were given to mons that absolutely needed a boost (absol, the aforementioned kanga, audino, ect). it didn't feel like am "i win" button, it had balance.
Z-moves are kinda similar but kinda boring so i won't delve into it that much.
Maxing, on the other hand, absolutely destroys something which wasn't even that broken, it just boils down to "i press the make big button, now die haha". every non-attacking move is just protect now in contrast to z-moves which gave you something in return (not always the best, but it was something). and the attacking moves are busted beyond belief, giving out weather, terrain, buffs, nerfs to the opponent, STEEL TYPE ROCKS. ect. On top of that, they give the mon 2x the hp which for some makes them almost nigh unkillable unless you wait it out of have a specific counter for said pokemon, mons like skewda, gyara, and others thrive on it to survive or get good hits in. unlike megas which can pretty easily backfire if you're not careful, maxes are pretty easy to control and only backfire if you really try to fuck up. sorry if this is too long, so i'll end it with this. uhhhh mega good max bad haha see you for dynamax diamond and paypig pearl
