My Politoed soloed almost half of Lance's team, he kept trying to waterfall it with his Gyrados, which kept healing it.
I also want to say that Ariados has been amazing this run. I may have skewed my team comp by always having a bug and poison type on my team, but it really did wonders and don't regret keeping it on my team the entire game.
I want to do eventually fight Red but I may do a run of either Platinum or White beforehand
