When I was a kid, I didn't have much Pokemon anything. I watched the show religiously, collected a few trading cards here and there, and didn't have any of the games. In fact, I didn't own a handheld console at the time. I only had an NES and a SNES that my parents had bought for my older brother that he had gotten bored of.
Years later, I got ahold of Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness and a Gamecube. The game had come out fairly late in the Gamecube's lifespan, and so did my time with the Gamecube, but that didn't stop it from being such a magical experience.
Getting my first Pokemon, an Eevee, was a magical experience, but nothing was more magical than being able to snag my first Pokemon. Instead of feeling like a Pokemon trainer, I was some kind of Pokemon bounty hunter, being able to rescue the Shadow Pokemon from trainers.
The first Shadow Pokemon in GoD is Teddiursa, who I ended up training alongside Eevee exclusively. The two were an unbeatable duo, and became my personal favorites throughout my playthrough.
Of course, they eventually evolved into Espeon and Ursaring, but I won't forget him as a cute little teddy. It felt amazing purifying him and feeling like I had saved his life.
