So let's start this thread about trying to figure out their role in the story of the Galar region.
I think those wolves are related somehow with Arceus or at least it helped them in the Darkest Day. Because those wolves original form is called "hero of many battle", so i think those are actually heroes even before the Darkest Day and they helped solving the wars and problems in general in the Galar region. Zamazenta is said to have worked with "the king of people" for saving Galar region, from the pokédex description of its "Hero of many battle" form. I think that in the Darkest Day those heroes weren't so strong to stop Eternatus and its legion of giant pokémon, and the entire world was at risk. Now Arceus acknowledging the valor of those 2 heroes and knowing their ability to absorb metal, gave them those special weapons which gave them the ability to face Eternamax Eternatus and the giant pokémon with the moves "Behemoth Blade" and "Behemoth Bash". This would explain even why the colors and the stats are like those of Arceus.
