The first evolutions generally receive a lot of attention and there are a lot of fanart because they're cute.
The third evolutions are because they're powerful and badass.
Everybody completely forgets about the middle ones. I love a lot of them, like Ivysaur; it's so cool! Same for Charmeleon, Servine, Pidgeotto, etc.
