Maybe if the prop was integrated into the design in anyway rather than just spawning out of hammer space.
Maybe if it's gimmick wasn't playing instruments at all.
Maybe if it was a little more creative than Gorilla with grass hair (Bark armor? Coconut shoulders? Tree stump hands? Anything really)
Maybe if there was some level of exaggeration to it's silhouette
Truthfully, being a primate itself is already a downswing from gamefreak. They have like a 10% success rate in designing primates. Most are hideous (Rillaboom line, Infernape line, Gen 5 Elemental Monkies, Ambipom, Passimian, Oranguru, the Darmanitan lines), with really only Aipom and the Mankey line being well designed.
