i think a part of it is that USUM wraps up necrozma and its history pretty neatly, same with eternatus.
it's not like arceus/hoopa where there's enough mysteries and vagueness surrounding those two they get shoved into every fucking fangame, we know pretty much everything about necrozma so adjusting its history to fit your fanfiction is going to be tricky.
