Going through Sprout Tower, I ended up overleveling Mareep to 10 (Though it's dogshit until it learns Thundershock at that level) so I figured I can't use it vs. Falkner. No problem, I have tools to work with.
I got fucking smacked by the Pidgeotto, and I was about to give up when I realized that wait, in HGSS the Pidgeotto isn't level 9, it's 13. No wonder.
Chikorita ended up dying from that before the now legal Mareep came and clutched the victory.
