What depresses me the most is the fact that I don't actually care anymore about the aspects of Pokemon which make it a game.
There are countless RPGs which are doing a better job at being a game.
But the one thing I loved about pokemon was the experience of being on an adventure, the experience of exploring an exciting environment on my own terms, and the experience of friendship and sharing. Pokemon has been a medium of interchange for me as a child, a means of communication with my peers.
Now, more than a decade after my first Pokemon exposure, I've grown old and unimaginative, and no game will ever be able to replicate what I once felt. All that remains is a vestige of nostalgia - what remains is vanity, nothingness.
