I have game, thread. Make a gritty AU, but not just any. Here are the rules:
>a villain must have tampered with the universe and turned it into a dystopian nightmare, has to give a "none of this is right" vibe>the main hero's story must be altered via domino effect (eg. "what if Ash had actually woken up in time to get Squirtle and therefore never met Pikachu?")>the supporting cast is either dead or in radically different situations to that of their canon counterparts (eg. imagine that the MC's mom is completely absent from their life, but in her place, dad is always there; or that Professor Oak is an actual villain and the hero has to get their starter and Pokédex through other means)>very few heroes around, choose who should still cast light on this gritty world wisely
