>>39569818NAYRT but I remember being talked down to on the playground by one of my friend's moms because she didn't want our game of pretend to involve pokemon because she said it was "violent" and "evil". I remember asking her why she thought that and informed her that my family was christian too. To us, it was just a harmless game of pretend that had nothing to do with religious views.
She gave me the most passive-aggressive bitch face ever and just walked away. The rest of us all decided to leave that kid out of pretend because we all wanted to pretend to be pokemon. Made it more of a "our parents are okay with it, sorry your mom isn't" thing.
She came back and got mad at us again for leaving her kid out of the game. We all just told her that she couldn't make us play with her kid if she doesn't want her to play our game and we weren't changing games just for her kid. At that point my own mom stepped in and got her to leave us alone. We invited my friend back to playing pretend again and she decided to be a Vulpix.
I remember that day well because it really baffled me thinking "how pokemon could ever possibly be violent?" The majority of pretend is played either through acting or oral storytelling, so it didn't make sense. Did her mom think we were going to start punching and kicking each other? We were like 7~8, we knew better than that.
