Lance was going to be an epic battle. Dragon resists I wasn't too worried about - as I have Magnezone for Steel as well as Togekiss who is Fairy type in Sacred Gold. Lance is a Flying type specialist anyway, even in the romhack as his only new mon is a Garchomp!
Turn 1 I knew he was going to open Gyarados, I slapped my Choice Scarf on Magnezone to ensure I'd outspeed turn 1, if I didn't, then frankly his Gyarados would have swept me! He then sends in Garchomp to revenge, but I swap out into Walrein to tank a hit and go for Blizzard OHKOing the Garchomp. Walrein is a TANK.
Lance then sends out his third mon. Aerodactyl. Not good, as my team has ZERO Rock resists (I just never caught any good ones during my journey, my only boxed trained member is a Rampardos!) So I was resigned to losing Walrein, He Stone Edge'd me to red and I Hyper Potioned hoping for a miss (I don't heal spam, only 2-3 a battle just like the AI). While he didn't miss Aerodactyl used TORMENT instead, and THEN missed a Stone Edge allowing me to OHKO with Surf! Epic! Or not because Charizard came in and I COULDN'T SURF OH NO!
