Indulging in the autism a bit here, how is Serena even a good waifu? She canonically loves Ash. So if you like Serena so much then it must be because of her relationship with Ash, who isn't an easy character to self-insert to. In that case, what exactly about their 'relationship' is enjoyable? Serena's attraction is one-sided and founded in a puppy love when she was a small girl and her less than, what, a month? Of actually knowing Ash. Does Ash, of all people, need or really desire someone like Serena who idolises him? Even though his character development is all about reining his ego in to be less of a brat and more of an empathetic and heroic figure?
Really, if one's liking for her is about the relationship then I'd argue that Misty, Latias, Anabel, Dawn, Lana and Lillie would suit him much better as actual equals who help one another become better. The snowball shit was wildly OOC and Ash had to get over it himself in a snowstorm, not with Serena meanwhile the other characters genuinely push Ash to be better and to improve as a person.
So concluding that the shipping is shit and that Ash isn't an easy character to self-insert, why the fuck would anyone fan over Serena? Are Serenafags just fucking cucks? Do they want Ash Ketchum to cuck them?
