Lillie was the heroine of the story, designated love interest for the male player, etc. Because Youkai watch was seen as a competitor back then.
Especially with USUM it rewards exploration with a ton of sidequests and events, making it so you do want to take your time with the thing.
However these changes make it so that if you want to play in vgc, or are replaying it for a challenge run, then it does drag since it's definitely a slower paced game.
