I figured I might as well take Scabby wit me, because Salem couldn't help me, and Albus and Amber didn't have the moves for taking on Witney.
So I got him back from daycare, where he had gained an extra level, and used him against the trainers inside the gym.
The training did him good, and his Hyper Fang attack convinced me to put him on the front line against Whitney and her Clefairy. He beat the crap out of it.
In comes Miltank and i think it's best not risk anyone against this infamous pokémon, so I switch in Duke, thinking he would make quick work of the oversized bovine.
A couple of Bites and Stomps later, and both are just under half of their HP, with Duke in a small lead, when disaster struck...
Duke missed his Bite but Miltank hit right where it hurt: a critical hit with stomp. I can't tell you how close it really was, but the hit must have matched Duke's remaining HP perfectly.
We were in big trouble. Next I send in Lemon, with the idea that if you can't beat it down you drag it down, and I opened with a Poison Powder attack.
Miss. Damn. Next try was going to be the last shot if Lemon was walking away from that fight, and sure enough: success!
What we weren't counting on, was that that future wall ornament was holding a Lum Berry... And before even one hit from the poison was in, Miltank was already cured.
Hector and Basil both did some damage, but in the end Whitney's Super Potion made up for all of it. There was only one pokémon that could finish this: Scabby the Rattata.
And finish it he did, Hyper Fanging away until Miltank's milk went sour and its hide was on its way to becoming a leather vest.
Thanks Scabby, you saved my ass out there, and you made sure Duke's sacrifice wasn't in vain.
