Mudkip has such a stupid-looking face. Seriously, it has no teeth, no specially-shaped jaws like when it grows up, just a weird beak-mouth with its orange Pikachu knockoff cheeks as hinges like it's a robot instead of a living thing. In fact, Generation 3 is LITTERED with designs that look like plastic toys; most of the third 135 stick out like a sore thumb next to every other 'ration's designs.
Gallade, on the other hand, is a badass knight in white, especially when he Mega Evolves. Unlike his special-attacking sisters and brothers, he actually managed to convey the theme "Sirknight" couldn't.
Generation 7 has god-tier character designs, both human and Pokémon, almost all the way through. It also tells the most ambitious story we've gotten since Black and White or maybe even since ever, and actually tells another story that goes off the first one's rails again in the rereleased games. Not only did it actually manage to get me to legitimately despise and even fear Guzma during the mission to Po Town for the stolen Yungoos, but it brings us our first woman to be an evil team leader, who's quite the knockout, being both memorably crazy, highly punchable, and actually a little bit right at one point when she calls out YOU, the player character who's kind of been out of the spotlight, for probably boxing mons just as she collects them! She and Guzma are also our first chief villains since Generation 3 to actually be redeemed after the story, and even if it's a bit ham-fisted and corny, I found having this redemption happen by reconciling with her daughter to be absolutely touching. Oh, and making Let's Go, a highly marketable game, out of mostly recycled content for a probably-low budget was a pretty clever move on Game Freak's part.
...By the way, great thread!
