>>47329445I think Blaine is poorly developed. He lives near a volcano yet his signature pokémon are Rapidash and Arcanine instead of Magmar. To show he is an intelligent scientist they made him obsessed with pokémon quizes instead of simply making him an expert in volcanoes or heat control (Hell, fire by itself is already an important element in science). And his interest in Fire-types comes from seeing Moltres while he was lost in a snowy mountain but he moved to where Articuno lives. A pyromaniac scientist is a no-brainer, it's amazing how Game Freak managed to screw it up.
