Nidoking is a pokemon that has a awesome movepool, good (but not uber) stats, a design that almost everyone loves while, at the same time, having clear weakness that not make it not overpowered. The only design mistake they made with him was making him a manlet.
What other pokemons do you consider well designed? Pokemons that are well thought off, with good movepools and designs that don't inspire controversy but most people agree are cool.
