Then, he looked away from Ash and directed his attention to his front… and promptly got the urge to smack his forehead. There, right in front of them, was a decently-sized refrigerator. They were in the kitchen.
"No way…" Pikachu muttered, disbelieving. Admittedly, a part of him wasn't all that surprised; aside from breakfast earlier that morning, Ash hadn't really eaten anything all that day; between the battling and watching over his healing Pokemon, he hadn't really had time. Besides, the boy seemed to think with his stomach half the time. Still, to think that it would guide him to the kitchen in his sleep...
As Pikachu refocused his attention, he noticed that that same part of the human's body had drawn him towards the front of the refrigerator. Sluggishly, he reached out an arm, grabbed the handle, and pulled the door open.
Pikachu gasped; there had to be at least three weeks worth of food in there! Burgers, ice cream, cheese, pie, cake… the Center must have restocked recently.
Ash, though his eyes were still closed, smiled widely, as though sensing the delectable treats that were laid out before him. Then, with a speed and precision that startled even Pikachu, he seized an entire slab of cake and began cramming it into his mouth.
"A-Ash?!" Pikachu exclaimed, his ears shooting up. The human, even in sleep, seemed to be completely forgoing manners; opening his mouth wide, taking huge chomping bites, swallowing, and repeating, without even bothering to wipe his mouth. Crumbs, globs of frosting, and crumb-encrusted frosting fell to the floor as Ash tore into the dessert.
Pikachu could barely believe his eyes; Ash wasn't just sleepwalking, he was sleep-eating! He hadn't even thought that was possible!
Ash finished the cake in under a couple of minutes. Wiping his mouth, he smiled dopily…then promptly reached back into the fridge and pulled out a carton of chocolate ice cream.
