My bf likes pokemon but he's pretty casual about it. I wish he was into competitive battling and breeding and stuff but it doesn't really interest him, he likes in-game stuff only. A lot of his favourites aren't very viable, competitively speaking, so I think that turns him off a little.
He does think game mechanics like hidden power and stuff like that is really interesting, though. He's a Chem/Physics graduate so one day he decided to code his own Hidden Power calculator out of boredom.
