A message to Game Freak:
How to fix gen 9:
1. Call it Pokemon 1000, and include all Pokemon megas, gigantamax, and Z moves to date. Add in some new Pokemon, including new megas and gigantamax. Total Pokedex 1000 if you count these alternate forms.
2. Rework the game engine entirely, maybe based on BOTW engine.
3. Minimize in game story handholding. The appeal of older games was self-exploration. For example, exploring the Seafoam Islands in gen 1, and Mt. Mortar in gen 2. Expand on the open world wild areas.
4. Bring back HMs as they worked in older series, and make all TMs like current TRs, single use.
5. Bring back all battle modes, including doubles, triples, rotation battles, horde encounters, max raid battles, and even battle royale.
6. Re-enact function of exp share as a held item, but allow multiple exp shares, with diminishing returns. For example, having two Pokemon hold exp share halves exp gained by each.
7. Let the next new "gimmack" be something useful to really change the meta game. We haven't had new statuses since Gen 2. I propose the new:
a. Volatile status "dizziness," which halves the Pokemon's accuracy (works like infatuation or confusion).
b. Non-volatile status "headache," which acts exactly like burn, except cuts sp attack in half instead of attack. Introduce a new ability (which psyduck has, for example) where this effect is reversed and headache doubles sp attack.
8. "Balance" the game by nerfing or buffing stats of certain Pokemon, not removing them.
9. Make new region unique and interesting, such as based on South America. Add post game in old region (probably Unova, since gen 8 will likely have Sinnoh remake) but taking place years later, like they did in Gen 1 to Gen 2 transition.
