i think the rings on the head don't look that good but the rest might work, maybe a smoke collar ornament coming from its nostrils or just a decorative plate around the head/neck you know sinnoh style sacred jewelry
an alternative idea could be a snake with square shaped scales that remind of the earth vectors on a map or a globe
they could even have different colors for a generic vague world map with green and brown/yellow dots on a dark blue/green base
