That 90% of the people who were born in the 90s and call themselves Pokemon fans have ONLY played Red, Blue, or Yellow? That if you step outside the bubble of the internet, Pokemon that are instantly recognizable to us are completely foreign to most of these people? That for all that Pokemon does, its audience retention is abysmal, which is why they bounce between trying to pull the dropped out fans back in with things like GO and LGPE, while also trying to make a game for each new generation of kids?
