In fact, I'd always make a detour to route 46 because, as a kid filled with curiosity and wanderlust, I discovered quickly that you could grab Geodudes there and, having already played Yellow, I knew that Geodude was a strong Pokemon in the early game because it was tough and resisted a lot of early attacks. Mind you, I could figure this out without even knowing what physical and special moves were. Also, I was 7 at the time, not 10.
If you were stupid enough to rely heavily on Pokemon that can't deal with roll-out, that's on you, but don't pretend as if your retardation as a kid (a 10 year old kid, non the less, which really makes your stupidity all the more embarrassing) reflects upon the average kid playing the game.
