The early reactions to the raws made it sound like this episode accomplished nothing in the Lucius lore/Diana plotline. I'm not gonna be a spaz and say it was the best thing ever, but it's pretty clear that despite their protests to the contrary, a lot of people both here and on /a/ can't follow a Pokemon episode without subtitles. We found out pretty much everything about how Diana got the pendant, how the Explorers got involved (her "old friend") and why she even gave the thing to Liko. The early theories about her going against Lucca's wishes were off base, and I'm a bit disappointed with how straightforward everything is, but there's still plenty to wonder about. Like, what is Diana's relationship to Hamber? Why have he and Gibeon been lying to the other Explorers about Terapagos? Why is Terapagos interested in Amethio? How are things about to break with Amethio and the rest of the Explorers once Onyx and Sango show up?
That being said, the critics are right in that they actually need to stop table setting and do some shit next week. They've set everything up for a big Liko/Roy/Friede battle against Amethio and the other Explorers. I'd imagine one of Lucius' mons will get involved, but they still need to actually invest some of their time/budget into action. I know Horizons isn't a battle series, but not having an actual, sustained battle in this upcoming episode will be a huge disappointment.
Also the cute turtle makes me happy. I love how Liko carries her Pokemon around without Pokeballs.
