During the events of XY, Ash owned 4 Pokemon (Charizard, Heracross, Sceptile, and Glalie) that can Mega Evolve, but he never uses Mega Evolution once.
Meanwhile, SM is happy to give him a Z-Ring and plenty of Z-Crystals, and he uses Z-Moves fairly often.
What's up with that?
