Having humanoid fully-evolved starters doesn't bother me nearly as much as it does on /vp/. The reason is that I think monsters come in all shapes and sizes, not necessarily supposed to be Kaiju-like as with many Gen 1 mons. Anthropomorphic animals are classified with monsters ever since the early days of the RPG. Keep in mind, the reason the Kalos starters get humanoid final evolutions is because of their theme being RPG classes.
