>>39113266Not even memeing here, but I can't call the game either great nor shit until I know all about it. If I'm leaning towards it being shit, is because Gamefreak are awful developers and always have been, but I'm gonna play into the despicable centrist persona for a moment here.
In the hands of an actual competent developer, trimming down the Pokedex would actually be a great idea as long as there were at least 400 Pokemon in the game to add variety. Pokemon has huge balancing issues and trimming down the number temporarily would help not only to improve the meta though efficient balancing, but also to get players to use Pokemon they would otherwise not use. Unfortunately this is game freak were talking about, so this won't happen, but whatever.
Post wild area footage also looks more in line with what the Switch is capable of compared to the first trailer, but that is still not enough. Clearly GF are way out of their league in terms of AAA game making and are obviously inexperienced and incompetent as shown by thru struggle to texture things correctly. BotW managed to create some compelling scenery despite the underpowered hardware because Miyamoto and his crew perfectly understood the limitations of the hardware and could work around them, something that gamefreak will never do, because they're primarily Art & Character Designers and nothing more.
Nothing excuses using a 3ds engine for this game, though. That introduces way to many limitations that shouldn't be there in the 1st place. I can't believe human NPCs still travel in tiles in this day and age. All animation related issues are 90% caused by this very fact and we could've gotten a way better looking game in the same timespan if GF had bothered to learn how to use a better engine. There's not much else we know, but those are my thoughts so far.
