>Get through Rock Tunnel and Erika extremely easily thanks to Mistle, picking up Lazer the Abra (soon to be Alakazam) along the way>Use it to blow through Rocket Hideout+Pokemon Tower+Koga's gym>Catch Elias the Poliwrath to help ease the exp management for Silph Co, and get through Rival and Giovanni easily>Get into Sabrina's gym and, fearing tighter EXP crunch, decide not to level everyone to the cap>This, combined with having no solid Psychic answer thanks to a dud Safari Zone encounter, leads to immediate disaster as Mistle is immediately outsped and oneshot by Kadabra, which I thought I was faster than thanks to stat experience and vitamins>Lazer manages to eke through most of the fight until it gets to her Zam, and it becomes a stalemate, which Lazer is on the losing end of >Switch him out for Karter, hoping to take advantage of the SPE drops to force my way through. >Get her Zam really low>It then crits a Psychic to OHKO Karter>Manage to get Stormer in and revenge kill with Quick AttackFucking brutal, man. The worst part is that I know I could've done a few things to stop this: I could've just gotten some extra encounters to ease the EXP load going forward so I could get everyone to the cap. I could've picked up the Super Rod and gotten Starmie, who would've helped immensely
But I didn't do those things, and I lost two of my first team mates. The worst part is that while I don't feel too bad about losing Karter, since they were really underwhelming, Mistle was carrying their weight and then some. The gen1 type chart means that Twinneedle is an incredibly spammable move vs so many grunts and random trainers, and they were critting things left and right
At least things should be easier from here on out. I have Lapras now, and they+Elias should make quick work of Blaine and Giovanni.
For the E4, I think Lazer/TJ/M Lapras/Electabuzz/Rocko/Slowbro might be the answer
